Shannon’s connection to SJA is rooted in her desire to see Christ put first as well as her concern for the diminishing of traditional values like respect, personal responsibility, accountability, and citizenship in public education. After attending a Sacred Journey presentation, Shannon felt a strong calling from the Lord that her children should attend the school and experience an education that approaches both life and learning from a Biblical perspective.
Professionally, Shannon has carved a diverse and successful career over the past two decades, starting as a bank teller at Riverwood Bank before moving on to become an accounts payable specialist with SunOpta. She later transitioned into the insurance sector, where she currently serves as a licensed insurance agent at the Rentz Agency in Morris, MN. Her role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, from financial management to customer service. This varied professional background, coupled with her involvement in volunteering for local charities, showcases her commitment to her community and her adeptness in various business realms.
Shannon’s life is a testament to her deep faith which was nurtured from a young age as she grew up in a Christian family and attended spirit-filled churches. Her commitment to God is evidenced not only in her personal faith but also in her active participation in her church, leading children’s ministries, and teaching her own children about the power of prayer.
Shannon is married to Darrin, and they have three children: Kadin, Kendal, and Karter. They live outside Holmes City on land from Darrin’s family farm. The family enjoys outdoor activities like ice fishing, skiing, camping, and kayaking. Shannon also loves gardening, baking bread, and making homemade soaps. Teaching her children about cooking, baking from scratch, and healthy eating is a big part of her life, too. Shannon’s aim is to live each day as Jesus taught.
