Saraah Ries

K-2nd Grade Teacher

After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Dickinson College with a Bachelor of Arts in French, Saraah Ries went on to work in finance at a local bank as well as in the hospitality industry as a guest service agent at a large hotel chain. She later transitioned to the role of stay-at-home mom, homeschooling parent, and contributing writer for the Compelling Truth website.

Sacred Journey Academy’s vision to raise disciples who know Jesus is a passion close to Saraah’s heart. The school’s desire to give freedom for students to learn through experience in their own time and at their own pace also aligns with the positive outcomes she’s seen as a homeschooling parent, making a teaching position at SJA a natural fit for her. With 7 years of experience teaching as a homeschool parent (having taught kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade 3 times each), Saraah is both prepared and passionate as she teaches early literacy and helps with child development at SJA.

In the past Saraah has taught Bible studies and served on the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team at Lake Community Church. She is certified by Precept Ministries to teach inductive Bible studies and enjoys integrating cultural and linguistic insights to enrich others’ understanding of Scripture. Currently, she enjoys serving in the church nursery while focusing her teaching energies at SJA.

Saraah and her husband, Jon, have been married nearly 20 years and have five boys—Levi, Lincoln, Lewis, Lawrence, and Lennox. Central to her life is the principle of stewardship – shaping her approach to parenting, resources, opportunities, and instructing those under care.

Beyond her family and church commitments, Saraah pursues interests such as language study (French, Spanish, Latin, Hebrew, American Sign Language), listening to podcasts (The Bible Project, Theology in the Raw, Aleph Beta), celebrating Biblical holidays (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Hanukkah, Tu b’Shvat, Purim, Passover, and Shavuot), and physical exercise (HIIT and Pilates).

The Ries family attends Lake Community Church.
